Located just 30 kilometers from Brisbane, Macleay Island is currently home to 250 artists, writers and musicians. The ever growing artistic community features a broad range of skills and talent ranging from painting, sculpture, pottery, calligraphy, and photography to dancing, singing, acting, and writing.

Local artists of note include Madeleine Ekeblad, David Wells, Karen Foster,Ted Upton, Ruth Venner and Sherree Johansson.

The beautiful landscape and tranquil atmosphere of Macleay Island inspires our artistic community every day.

Macleay Island Inspirational Writers’ Group
Macleay Island Inspirational Writers’ Group (MIIWG) was established in 2007 with the aim of encouraging Macleay Island writers to develop their creativity in a supportive and welcoming environment. Macleay Island Arts Centre

Macleay Island Craft Group
Formed in 1982 when four local residents shared their time and skills in a private home on a regular basis, the sixty-two members of the Group now meet at the Community Centre on Tuesday mornings.
