Located just 30 kilometers from Brisbane, Macleay Island is currently home to 250 artists, writers and musicians. The ever growing artistic community features a broad range of skills and talent ranging from painting, sculpture, pottery, calligraphy, and photography to dancing, singing, acting, and writing.

Local artists of note include Karen Foster, Ted Upton, Joe Geia and Ruth Venner. Tours of island artists can be organised. See Bay Island Artisans Network or Bay Island Art & Scenic Tours bothlisted below.

The beautiful landscape and tranquil atmosphere of Macleay Island inspires our artistic community every day.

You are welcomed to Macleay by this magnificent wood sculpture by island artist Ted Upton. This work was commissioned by Pensar Construction Group on completion of their work on the new Macleay Island car park and boat ramps. The wood came from a tree removed in order to complete the new work.
